Basketball in hoop.

Thompson Youth Basketball is an instructional league sponsored by Thompson Recreation. It emphasizes the development of basketball skills, good sportsmanship and leadership skills.  Plus it is lots of fun!  The program runs for eight weeks.  For ages 6 - 14 as of 12/31/21 (no high school students).   
Age 6 & 7 year olds / Rookie Co-ed
Meet Thursday night in the MRFES gym to learn basics and for skills & drills and scrimmages.

Age 8 & 9 year olds / 
Junior Co-ed
One weeknight practice  and Saturday morning games at 9:00 a.m.   Specific practice days and times TBA.

Age 10 & 11 Boys / Senior Boys
Age 12, 13 & 14 Boys/ NBA Boys
One weeknight practice and Saturday games.  Specific days and times TBA.
Grades 5 & 6 Girls = Senior Girls 
Grades 7 & 8 Girls = WNBA Girls

One weeknight practice in Thompson and Saturday games. Specific days and time TBA.

(except Rookie Age 6-7)
Note: Please do not bring personal balls, we will supply them.
This evaluation night is the last chance for registrations to be taken for the season.

Senior/WNBA Girls (Gr. 4-8)

All youth age 8-14 must attend mandatory evaluation session at the Tourtellotte Memorial High School gym. This includes all Junior, Senior and NBA division players.  We will evaluate players in order to make teams as equal as possible.  Note:  We are unable to grant requests for specific coaches, teams, or teammates (with the exception of immediate family members.)

    Player Evaluations:  Thursday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at TMHS gym
    Mandatory Coaches Meeting: Monday November 21st, 6:30pm at the Town Hall


Northeast Opportunities for Wellness offers scholarship. Parent should call the Rec office to have your child registered and then apply for scholarship. Scholarship applications will be processed weekly and parents should expect to hear back in five days. If not approved parents are responsible for the remaining balance.

  • Co/Ed Rookie Program is a weekly skills clinic on Thursday nights for 8 weeks.
  • Junior, Senior, NBA, and WNBA programs will have one practice per week and games on Saturdays at TMHS.
  • Practices will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday nights at Thompson Middle School or MRFES.
  • No basketball December 21st - January 3rd.
  • Mandatory skills assessment for Junior, Senior, NBA, and WNBA on Thursday, November 18th

  • Coaches are needed. One volunteer coach per class.
